Reading Goals
currently I'm making a long list of audiobooks I want to read while I still have a membership, to move through my Libby Holds which are all currently suspended and books I've been meaning to check out, and to catch up on recently purchased audiobooks.

In 2024 I did a lot of rereading—and not just two (three?) full rereads of Terra Ignota! I revisited the Sparrow and Children of God, the first two Bas Lag books, partially reread Children of Time and did a full rereading of Children of Ruin, and did my first two readings of What Makes This Book So Great.
I would like to finish a few rereads as well—I'm only 37 minutes from being finished with Iron Council and about halfway through The Dispossesed, there's probably a couple others.
I've also got a very long list of audiobooks I want to buy (as always) drawn from a much longer list of books I want to read. however, I'm going to do my best not to purchase any more audiobooks until I've gotten a library card at the new library, which will hopefully have a larger selection.
Then of course there's print books I own but haven't finished reading, which I tend to feel especially bad about maybe because an actual living tree died to make these copies. I'm in the unenviable state of being halfway between libraries, with maybe a hundred and fifty books sitting in a friend's basement alongside a keyboard and bookshelf and nightstand in their garage. other books are newly or long since packed away to keep them safe from cats and clutter. I am so looking forward to having a fully exposed and accessable library again, and maybe even eventually tracking down new copies of books I surrendered when I fled my parents. Just off the top of my head there's the two Borges collections (hopefully soon to add his poetry), Summer King, Winter Fool, the mermaid in Venice book, On Freedom, House of Leaves, Psyce on the Skin, Politics of Piety, Paradise Lost, Insect Dreams, The Trial, The Golden Notebook, Autumn of the Patriarch, The Most Radical Gesture, Manifestos Provocations of the Modern, Mesmerism in Revolutionary France, The Chronicle of the Last of the Pagans, Jesus the Magician (typo too good to discard: Jesus the Machine) and dozens upon dozens more.
And then of course there's the re-readings of printed books to finish—Strange Death of Liberal England, Neoliberalism's Demons, et cetera—and (do I dare) re-readings to undertake: The Palace of Dreams in the autumn around the second year anniversary of my first reading, etc. etc.
In 2024 I am hoping to log 100 books and I'm very nearly there. These include maybe a score of short form works, a practice I intend to continue next year. Because of the multiple car trips during the move I expect to do quite a lot of reading early in the year, but once moved in I hope to find work as soon as possible and my time will be much curtailed. At present I'm planning on setting a goal of 60 books for 2025, but might go as low as 52 or a much higher if I end up listening to a lot of podcasts I'd like to add to the register.
