>Last and final update: 12:30 a.m., Tuesday, November 5. Happy Election Day! At exactly midnight on Tuesday, we ran our simulation model for the final time in this election cycle. Out of 80,000 simulations, Kamala Harris won in 40,012 (50.015%) cases. She did not win in 39,988 simulations (49.985%). Of those, 39,718 were outright wins for Donald Trump and the remainder (270 simulations) were exact 269-269 Electoral College ties: these ties are likely to eventually result in Trump wins in the U.S. House of Representatives.

>I’m not quite sure what to say about this, but we’ll have a newsletter out for you later tonight/this morning and link to it here once it’s ready

I worship the tarot. I've read tarot every day for more than a year. I give it my regulated, habituated time. I use it to frame my feelings. i feel excited and synergized when the cards i draw harmonize with the kind of day I'm facing--cups for Mondays and Thursdays, fire cards for Tuesdays and Wednesdays, Moons on Full Moons, cards of ascending rank, major cards on major dates and holidays. the tarot, especially as I practice it, is a rearrangeable book of icons and iconoclasms.

I'm in the the process of developing my own tarot, which also means systematizing an alphabet of desire, a systematic philosophy implying a social structure, symbolic alchemy, coordinates of sacred indication. if entails building pantheon, or mapping a landscape on which to build a pantheon.

the royalist imagery was one of the first things to go. instead of Pages (or Princesses), Knights, Queens, and Kings, I've settled on Ambassadors, Commissars, Tribunes, and Philosophers. I multipled the suits, raising the four traditional realms of wands, cups, swords, and coins to sixteen, including quills, horns, lanterns, bells, hourglasses, fans, sickles, anchors, keys, wheels, shells, and orbs. I use a dice to extrapolate out a minor arcana.

the major arcana have taken longer to work through, and indeed remain very much a work in progress. I like Utopian for the Fool. Magician, High Priestess, and Hierophant all feel charged with radical potential as it is, but I've swapped in the fountain of youth and the burning bush for the empress and emperor, and the lovers overlooked by angel have been reconstituted as the Garden of Good and Evil. 've made the star, sun, and moon plural to give the deck more of a transsolarian outlook; now all stars, suns, and moons are represented, as well as star-ness, sun-ness, and moonn-ness. I like how this in particular highlights that the difference between a star and a sun is a question of relationality, of proximity, not essence.

Strength, Justice, and Temperance feel like virtues of an unfamiliar and not quite filled out moral framework. the Tower, Chariot, the Wheel of Fortune;— why these images and not a Temple, a Ship, a Cave, a Grove, a Labyrintha Road, a Crossroads, a Bridge, a Palace; such questions make some of the major trumps feel arbitrary, out of place. who are our contemporary Hermits and Hanging Men? what to is the Final Judgement, the World? What is a Devil and how many are there? these are some of the questions I'm working on for my own system.

elections are strange. for a single day we ask the country what's the vibe and then use that to set the tone for the next 4 years. I have a repeating image of a harurex cutting open a ballot box and spilling the votes the floor, is the curtain which falls over the voting booth falling across the soul separating political life and civic society, private interest and public responsibility. the ballot becomes an inverted Eucharist, a small representation of ourselves which we deposit magically into a collectivized mind or speech act or body politic. Nate silver described the 80,000 simulations run by the election model and i think of the narrator of Incandescent Ruins entrapped in a simulated reality running the same mazes over and over and over again, each one cut off from all the others and each only meaningful in the context of an imagine aggregation.
